Black raw steel may have rust appear after some time - this is a natural process and is not a manufacturing fault. This can be maintained by sanding with a fine grade sandpaper and painting with a high-temperature paint. The inside of a fire pit should be coated with an edible oil rather than painted. A thin layer of edible oil should also be used to coat the grill Firepits must be prepared carefully as per instructions on first use, particularly prior to using for cooking.
